This relates to one of the themes in the movie Slumdog Millionare (Very good movie btw). When Jamal is accused of cheating on the game show, an officer says; doctors, lawyers, college professors and scientist did not get as a far or answer as many questions correctly as you did, how can you a slumdog with no education who grew up in the streets know the correct answers. Of course we find out over the course of the movie but the bottom line is through life experiences. Every event in his life whether tragic or happy taught him something. So while I believe an education is important so are trying new things, social interactions and learning by living life. I'm sure someone who is "street smart" might surprise you by how smart they really are!

Thanks for your input Charles, I really appreciate it.

I keep trying to think of new names that still apply. Its tough but eventually I'll think of something.

I struggle with finding graphics. Not one of my strong suits. I'll have to put more effort into it I guess.

Hi Nate -- I like your consistency, first of all. I'm still struggling with that. It's such a simple concept, too: write consistently and your readership will grow.

I think you ought to move to a non-Wordpress.com site and think of a new catchy name for your blog. There's a lot in a name. It took me months to come up with mine -- I'm sure you won't take as long. This will give you more of an edge of authority in your posts.

Lastly, try to add a few graphics to your posts. I just started doing it and while it's not the greatest, it does give some variation to the text.

Just a few of my humble suggestions...

What a fascinating dilemma you've proposed, Nate. My answer is to first find balance within, then these matters you speak will work themselves out.

Of course it never quite works that smoothly, right? I'd say I've been living in the now for quite some time and it's caught up to me. Now I have a family to take care of and I must always be mindful of the (their) future. But kids live in the now, so I also have to live that part as well.

Such is life on the path of knowledge.

That's the spirit, Nate. Notebooks for me serve two main purposes: to get my ideas out no matter how bad or good they are (purge and move on) and also to get me writing.

Thought and Action are the most rudimentary aspects of any successful endeavor.

Who are you to say my problems don't matter? Does a fish care about global warming, the obvious answer is NO, sure it will feel the effects but it has no worries that one day 10, 20, 50 years into the future his home will be changed or worse destroyed. Yet it is us who do worry about that, not only for ourselves but for our children and our children's children. The fish...well they don't care cause they don't understand enough to care. It is your own selfish nature as a educated male to personalize the problems of others and make them your own.

Although these 'inconveniences' as you call them may seem to YOU as less fortune, are they really? Do they have same responsibilities as me or you, do they pay bills or lose their home if they don't, do they have deadlines, time constraints. Think of the kindly people who are their caregivers and the stress on their lives although they would never admit it god bless their souls. So the next you have an inconvenience blocking your path in life, walk around and think ignorance is bliss!

Nice observation Charles. Character is a nice tie in to what I was talking about. Compassion is a big part of character.
